OF DENYING JESUS |
Good Morning, Dan. :-)
Hiya, Mary-Lou! (If you hear any roosters crowing, just ignore them—they’re not meant for you.)
Peter was such a squish!....................
Meaning?
squish
skwĭsh
intransitive verb
1. To squeeze or crush together or into a flat mass; squash.
2. To emit the gurgling or sucking sound of soft mud being walked on.
noun
3. A squishing sound.
4. A person regarded as weak and ineffective.
#4............................
So then, repenting of sin is a sign of weakness?
No, the first part when he denied Christ................
That kind of weakness is universal, not distinctive to Peter. I plead “guilty as charged”.
Me too, we all are, to one extent or another.
As we used to say in the Marine Corps, “There are no atheists in foxholes.”.............
Some great paintings and the beautiful sculpture at # 4.
#6 Bloch
#7 Viligiardi
#8 Tissot
#10 Mironov. Highly dramatic, the hiding Peter and the mantle of Christ brushing against him as he is taken away.
#18 Leinweber
#20 Segher
"War is hell", but that is indeed a heavenly byproduct.
The common format I notice in most paintings by Mironov is that they are tightly focused closeups. He is not afraid to zoom in on the human face, as he did here. I find it tremendously appealing.
A self taught artist, he became famous for his portraits and religious subjects.
Thank you, Alba! I had missed that completely.
It is exquisite. I will certainly add that to the collection.
Here is another for you.
